So the Big 10, Pac 10, and MWC are all considering expansion now. The big east could also split. There are so many possible changes coming to conference alienments and without I-A football we are not putting ourselves in a position to take advantage of it.

Would it be easier to secure donor money if MSU was part of a FBS conference. I know everyone says just win games and the money will come, but it is my belief that the donors are limited at the FCS level.

If/when we move it, it's definitely not going to be to an FBS conference. I still say C*USA or bust.

It helps us in nearly every sport and is equal in Basketball (don't show me RPI numbers, they mean nothing if we don't get more bids)

    Lay this brick.

Conference USA is a FBS conference. I believe you were thinking a BCS conference.

Conf USA would be a good fit for the university. IMO

Maybe we should ask McLintock from the NL forum. Oh wait he still can't get the name change and still addresses MSU as SMS! :freak5:

Big Ten and ACC already tried that and failed.

I've been reading that the MWC is expected to invite boise as they are trying to become an autobid BCS conference. With the WAC having an opening, would we be interested if invited? The closest road trip would be Louisanna but Hawaii would be a great game to sell to recruits.

Montana would be the better bet for the WAC.

we would lose soooooooooo much more money if we joined the WAC..... those road trips are killer.... in this economy, the added expenses (and no real offsetting revenue) of moving up wont settle well with anyone..

Let's win a couple of more games before we start talking about going to another conference.

I just thought of a possibly best case senario for moving to the sunbelt, talk WSU into going with us and bringing back football. We would have a rival in place for all sports in the new conference and them having football would strengthen the rivalry. Plus I don't see WSU bringing back football unless they can do it at the I-A level. They have a stadium already in place. We aren't going straight into a conference as good as CUSA and maybe the Sunbelt with MSU and WSU could challenge the CUSA/MWC/MVC in basketball strength?

How do you guys view this new FBS conference(with WSU and CU as basketball only schools): it includes 3 southern texas schools that are trying to move up and need a home (recuiting areas could outweigh their weak basketball), WKU(good basketball and FBS), N Texas(could lure away from sunbelt with our better basketball, they are building a brand new stadium in football and deliever dallas area). LA Tech(not a geograhical fit in WAC)

While it looks like a drop off in basketball from the MVC I think it could be a good hoops conference, the new teams records from last year: LA Tech(24-11), N Texas(24-9), WKU (21-13), SamHSU (25-8), UTSA(19-11), TSU(15-16), add those to ILSU(22-11), WSU(25-10), MSU(24-12), and CU(18-16) and I think you could have a 2-3 bid league.

Go Bears! Houston or Bust in 2011!

I think that would be a great conference... it'll never happen though.
