If we can accomplish these things we make ourselves marketable for future consideration. Regardless if we as an institution want to make a move, we have to have interest from other conferences first. This may occur if there is a realignment/shift of some conferences. Financially, facility and fan support wise we aren’t there yet. The corporate community as well as the fans from a season ticket stand point and philanthropically will have to make a commitment if there is a chance for it to happen. The university in its current financial state is in no position to add any new major expenditures. That being said we are very happy to be in the MVC. From a football perspective we are in one of the best FCS leagues in the country." Kyle Moats
Thats a pretty good response. I like how he listed winning first out of those things that needed to be done.
Go Bears! Houston or Bust in 2011!

Even with this, there are people on this board who insist he's covering up a grand plan to move to D1 in the next five years.....

Looks like he just laid out his plan. Now it is up to the team, fans and supporters to do their part.

It's seems like a stretch at the moment, but it can happen!:bears:

I think if we ever start winning the support would follow, and boom goes the dynomite.

Heck, even with only 1 NCAA in 2 decades we got a great arena built and pull in 8,000-10,000 vs conference foes, Imagine what we could do if we actually had some real success.

All you have to do is look at last years "big" home conference games and see what type of numbers we could pull in if we were playing bigger opponents (i.e. Tulsa, UTEP, Memphic, etc)

    Lay this brick.

"If I'm going to build a wall, I don't set out from Day 1 and say, 'I'm gonna build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall in the history of man, instead, you say, 'I'm gonna take this brick and lay it as perfectly as it can be laid,' every day."

I know we play the BCS schools for a money game, but why not play some of the mid-majors that maybe we would have a better chance at possibly beating?

I really wouldn't mind seeing us play 1 BCS and 1 "mid major" sun-belt/mac school, only problem is that's two away games.

It would be nice to get a home and home with one of the smaller mid-majors. I doubt that would happen though.

I think Illinois state got a home/home with a MAC school, maybe ball state.

I would imagine TA wouldn't be too keen on it, seeing as how it would likely hurt our playoff chances. You have to win at least seven games against D-I competition, and playing in the Valley is such an unbelievable grind. Add to that two games on the road against teams that have more scholarship players, and we'd have to play our tails off. Might as well just keep playing the likes of SEMO and Murray State and rack up the non-conference wins, IMO.

EDIT: But yes, it would be incredible to get a home-and-home with a mid-major FBS school. I still can't believe Illinois St. pulled that off with Ball State.
